About the workshop

The workshop on Statistical Methods and R Programming is intended to give rigorous training program on statistical methods using R for interdisciplinary researchers. The seven days program will deal with the application of modern statistical tools and techniques to the problems arising from different areas of applied sciences. Researchers from all subject areas (preferably biologists), which require quantitative techniques, are eligible to apply. This extensive training program would be useful for the budding ecologists, faculties of colleges and universities who are involved in interdisciplinary research activities, budding mathematical biologists who are intending to take up data-driven research in the field of theoretical and computational ecology. The workshop is tailored to deploy the software R for the better understanding of statistical methods. Several tutorial sessions will help the participants to get more familiar with R software. Additionally, the workshop will also feature an interactive session on the treatment of data collected by workshop participants.

This workshop is an annual event organized by Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit (AERU), Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The program was initiated in 2014 by the AERU under the financial support from ISI Kolkata and National Board of Higher Mathematics to cater the statistical training to interdisciplinary researchers. Over the last three years, the workshop has received vigorous support from the participants across different parts of the country. This is the fourth workshop in this series and is going to be held at ISI Kolkata.
